1. If you have autoimmune dysfunction, anemia, eating disorders, diabetes, kidney disease, thyroid disease, terminal illness, cancer, chronic fatigue, and degenerative diseases you need to get permission and be supervised by a qualified practitioner.
2. Do not detox during a fever.
3. If constipation occurs during the detox use smooth move tea and/or do colohydrotherapy, it is best to schedule a colonhydrotherapy appointment before and after the retreat. Check-in with us if these options do not work and we will help you. You cannot detox if you are constipated. Also, some people are shy sharing a bathroom, if you know that is you reserve a room with a private bathroom!
4. If you are frail, weak, or elderly refrain from colonhydrotherapy or enemas and be sure to check-in with your doctor before detoxing.
5. If you have dark, brown, cloudy, or frothy urine this indicates that you need more fluids. Increase water intake. If urine continues to be colored or have a strong odor drink diuretic juices and tea's until urine becomes clear or light yellow and odorless.
6. Excessive die-off of microorganisms will produce symptoms such as achiness and malaise. To help alleviate this increase vitamin c and consider a colonic.
7. If the liver is not prepared or is over-burdened symptoms may occur such as headache, fatigue, and dizziness. If this happens increase fluids and vitamin C intake. If they persist or are severe discontinue. After some rest begin a very slow easing into the detox by slowly exchanging the major four (sugar, flour, alcohol, and coffee) for healthier options. Then consult your doctor to see if your body is ready. Also, begin to add in superfoods such as: juicing dark leafy greens, spriralina smoothies, and lot's of fresh fruits and vegetables.
8. Do not detox if you are pregnant or nursing.
9. Do not discontinue taking any of your medication during the detox.
10. If you are thin be sure to check-in with your doctor as detoxing often encourages weight loss. Also, many people who are thin will continue to eat protein such as salmon or chicken or will have extra protein smoothies. Check-in with us if you are concerned about losing weight.
11. Sometimes acne or rashes flares up if you don't prepare for the detox by slowly eliminating the major four (sugar, flour, alcohol, and coffee) slowly. If this happens continue to sauna and drink lot's of water this will help move the toxins through your system. The skin is the biggest detoxification organ in the body and when we have a lot of toxins being released at once we often react with rashes or acne.
12. Tiredness and weakness can occur from working hard to release toxins stored in your tissues, so take lot's of naps and rest well. Sometimes a lot is released at once and you may need to be easier on yourself and skip yoga or take an extra nap.
